Moments You Live For...

DC13, Baby!!!!!!  Diatrict Champs!  SO cool, congrats fellas! I am pumped for you!

Well week two in Academy Heights was a good one for sure. I never really know what to tell you all when I sit down to write. Emails just don't do it justice that's all I can say.  This zone is pretty great! The ABQ stake is a power house for sure, they have high expectations. For the past couple of months things have been a little slower so it's time to change that. Yesterday we had our monthly meeting with the stake and mission presidency and they said we are in the calm before the storm, but that the calm has been long enough! It's time for the storm! Stress levels are high for me and Elder Eaton...haha... and we are excited!

We got some news this week! As you know President and Sister Miller go home at the end of June, we found out Friday that our new mission president is going to be President Steven J and Sister Joni K. MILLER! ! How crazy is that?  I don't even want to think about President Miller going home, he has done amazing things for this mission and I love him to death.  It'll be exciting though to say the least to have a new President.

We have ten companionships in our zone right now, but that is due to change this next transfer. There are 29 new missionaries coming out, and none going home!

Elder Eaton and I had a good week! The Lord has blessed us to work with many great people right now who are very close. I will share one experience that was very exciting. On Saturday night we met and taught Aubrey! She referred herself through mormon.org. She is 21 and a softball coach for one of the high schools here in ABQ. She told us that she has many Mormon friends, and when they grew up and got married they just seemed happy. She told us she feels like she is missing something, and was kind of jealous of her friends. She is awesome! We had a great lesson answering her questions, and talked about everything you can imagine.  As we shared with her scriptures in 1 Peter about the spirit world her reaction was "This is in the bible!? Why doesn't anybody talk about this!? It makes so much sense!" The entire lesson was full of Ah Ha moments. I love teaching for the Ah HA moments! She text us the next morning and told us she stayed up until 3 reading the Book of Mormon! We are teaching her again this week and I can't wait! After this lesson though we will most likely be handing her off to the UNM singles branch elders, which is kinda a bummer, but that's how it goes!

Right now we are also working with a part member family the Thompsons. The dad is not a member and they have recently adopted two kids Audrey and John who are baptism age. The Dad has been meeting with missionaries for over 26 years! He's seen missionary work change from set lessons to PMG. With the adoption of the two kids though and other life experiences, his heart has seemed to change. We have had two great lessons with them and feel really good about what's to come.

We had a very powerful lesson with Jazmine this week, she is 17 and agnostic. She is the girlfriend of a member. It was one of those lessons where it is 110 percent done by the spirit. As we bore testimony of the love of God and prayer the spirit filled the room, and she felt it. Those are the moments you live for as a missionary. It was one of the most powerful lessons I have been a part of on my mission.

We had zone conference this week! I love zone conference it's always great. The theme for our mission lately has been "Become a Master Teacher" At zone conference Elder Eaton and I had to do a role play teaching as master teachers. Never did I think I would be able to do that! I still have so so much I want to improve on though. It went really well and I learned a lot.

Well those are just some of the highlights of the week, we are working hard and living in the moment. Have a great week and good luck at state!!!!!!

Love, Elder Turnbow
